The uniform you jump into for
Eight long hours makes you
Powerful and strong--
Like Superman.
You fly into some personal crusade
To crush my voice of dissent,
My artistic freedom--
Because my poems are nuclear explosions.
But I didn't' step up in here
To lay down, Yo.
I trained in the valley of black kings.
I dazzle the universe with sonnets.
My rhyming schemes paint rainbows.
I can even infuse sestinas
And villanelles and pantoums
And come up with a hip hop groove.
And you think you can grind
Me up, set me off?
Then run git your gat.
Strap on suicide bombs.
Bring on your big ass tanks.
Superman is going down.
