I killed Kate Rich, and at least a hundred more--
Henry Lee Lucas

Perhaps it was easier to commute the death
Sentence of an admittedly unrepentant
Serial killer than to spare the life of
A repentant believer.
But Karla Faye Tucker said she was
Truly sorry didn't she?

February 3, 1998

Witness Ron Carlson

"We were escorted into the viewing chamber.
At that point I saw Karla Faye Tucker
Strapped down to a hospital style
Gurney with a intravenous tube
Or needle inserted into both arms
Karla issued her final statement
In which she told the victims'
Family that she was sorry for what
She'd done, and that she hoped
They receive some sort of closure
Or healing from this.
Then she turned her head to the chamber
That I was in. She thanked all of us
For being there, and she said that she loved
Us all." --Ron Carlson(the brother
Of the Woman Karla Faye killed) said,
In a voice crackling with emotion.

6:35 P.M.

"The lethal injection began at which
Point Karla's body made a sound which
Was something I have never heard before
It was the lungs of her body actually
Exhaling all of the air from her lungs.
The sound was very loud. I have
Not slept properly since."
He moaned, as if in deep pain.

"I cannot ever forget that day.
It is like a nightmare that never ends."

The curtain quickly closes
The reporters disperse.
Fade to black . . . .
