Reggie desperately needs funding for a competent lawyer. Appeals for a death row inmate are prohibitively expensive. The fact that he is being illegally detained and about to be put to death for a murder he didn't commit will not be considered without your support. America has far too much blood on it's hands already, please help stop the execution of yet another innocent black man. Donations to Reggie's Legal Defense Fund can be made by postal or international money order to the following address:

As you may have guessed, it is often incredibly difficult to get what you need inside prison. Every little thing is a complete logistical nightmare, even simple paper and pencils, especially on death row. This is a short wish list of things which would make it easier for Reggie to continue to communicate with those outside prison. This communication is vitally important to his struggle for justice. Please take a moment to consider supplying him with something from the following list:

  • Communicate:
The simplest things are often the most overlooked. Death row is a lonely, dehumanizing, isolated place. Prisoners are hosued miles and miles away from their family, friends, and spouses. Few receive visits. For those of you who are able, offer to arrange a visit with our friend Reggie. Write to him. Tell him who you are, ask him about his books, his case, those two-tone shoes he wore (see the bio section), tell him you read about what's happened to him on this website and that you care, or want to help, or whatever else is on your mind. Reggie's First, Sixth, Eigth, and Fourteenth Ammendment Rights are often violated by the cruel and illegal tactics in the prisons mailroom. The mailroom often withholds, tampers with, sabotages, and uses prodigious preemptive measures to cut off his communications with the general public and restrict his writings. They often use "Pretextual reason" to return mail from supporters, attorneys, activists, clergy, and anti death penalty organizations. Please do not seal your envelopes using tape. Also, do not put any adhesive stickers on any part of your envelopes. Books, magazines, and newspapers must be mailed "directly" from a publisher, bookstore, distro, or vendor. Please send a duplicate copy of your postal mail to Reggie's email addressSend mail to: Reginald S. Lewis, #AY2902, Box 244, Graterford, PA 19426
  • Reviews:
Reviews are good for selling books, so order one of his books and read it. Then post a review at the site you purchased it from.
  • Photocopies:
The fascist prison mailroom maintains ridiculous and dehumanizing rules about mail that can be received by inmates. Prisoners are only allowed to receive four copies of any one page at a time. In order to promote his book, Reggie uses as many copies as he can get of press releases, posters, postcards and the like. We need more people to send these materials to maintain Reggie's supply, four at a time, as often as you are able. If you would like to help with copies, please contact me at ken@reginaldslewis.org. I'll provide you with the necessary materials and instructions.
  • Posters:
It would be of great help in promoting his books to place posters in bookstores, coffeeshops, campuses, bulletin boards, etc. If you can make some copies and post them around your town, please contact me at ken@reginaldslewis.org. I'll provide you with a master copy (or sometimes we have some extra copies already made I could send you) to put up.
  • Typewriter:
The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC) has finally decided to allow inmates to purchase their own typewriters. However, like most things in prison, they are expensive and must be purchased through a prison approved retailer. Reggie needs $250 to purchase one. Send him a money order directly, specifying what it is for.
  • Publicist:
An experienced publicist would be really helpful. If you're a publicist and have some time you could donate to help create a plan and materials to market Reggie's books, please contact me directly at ken@reginaldslewis.org.
  • Lawyer:
If you're a lawyer, experienced with capital cases, who is interested in helping Reggie, please contact him directly at reggie@reginaldslewis.org or via the snailmail address posted above.
  • Artists:
Any artistic support would be most welcome; whether it be artwork for posters, musicians interested in a collaborative cd, or anything else in your artistic vision.
  • Publisher:
Reggie is seeking a publisher for his new book, a third collection of poems. If you're interested in this, please contact Reggie directly at reggie@reginaldslewis.org or via the snailmail address posted above.
  • Money:
As always, any money you can donate to help would be greatly appreciated. Please send money orders directly to Reggie.
