It just happens that one of the principals in the Abu Ghraib scandal (Corporal Charles Graner) was employed at the prison holding Reginald Lewis. This book is not focused on brutality, but it leaves no doubt that the U.S. prison system is in need of reform.

Lewis' book has charming personal stories from his growing up years in Philadelphia, stories from Death Row, and investigative pieces of unjust convictions, his own included, including quotes from court transcripts. This is Lewis' third book.

A self-taught writer, his words flow easily and naturally.
